What is CranioSacral Therapy (CST)?
CranioSacral Therapy is a light touch, fully clothed therapy which works to release tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. The craniosacral system is made up of the soft tissues and fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord, which directly influence the functioning of the central nervous system.
The practitioner evaluates your body to determine areas of restriction. Then, using a gentle touch, starting with about the weight of a nickel, releases these restrictions. This results in the freeing of the central nervous system to work at maximum performance, naturally eliminating pain and stress, while strengthening resistance to disease and enhancing your health and well-being.
What conditions is CST used to address?
--Migraines and Headaches
--Chronic Neck and Back Pain
--Stress and Tension-Related Disorders
--Motor-Coordinated Impairments
--Infant and Childhood Disorders
--Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
--Chronic Fatigue
--Fibromyalgia
--TMJ Syndrome
--Scoliosis
--Central Nervous System Disorders
--Learning Disabilities
--ADD/ADHD
--Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
--Orthopedic Problems
What can I expect form a CST session?
A CST session takes place in a quiet, private setting, while you remain fully clothed lying on a massage table.
The practitioner "listens" to your body with their hands to locate areas of weak fluid flow or tissue motion. Delicate manual techniques are then used to release those problems, improving both form and function of your central nervous system.
The session can last up to an hour or more. What you will experience is highly individual.
How many CST sessions will I need?
Sessions are generally deeply relaxing, and you will respond in your unique way. Often change is felt after one session, and you may require several sessions to relieve your particular problem.
What is Somato-Emotional Release?
Breath, imaging and dialogue techniques combined with light touch that help release long-held emotions associated with trauma (of any kind--physical, emotional, psychological, psychic) without having to re-experience the trauma. These emotions are held in the body and often surface as pain.
Example: a car accident with apparently "healed" physical injuries where pain remains.
I have studied with Madeleine Marcus PhD, Brugh Joy MD, and the Upledger Institute.
For those living with the experience of chronic pain I offer skills in dialoging with the body's wisdom. Together, we can bring to conscious awareness patterns held in the body/mind/spirit, and determine those that no longer serve.
Methods used:
Healing Presence
Supportive Touch
Breath Work
Energy work
Dialogue
Guided Imagery
Visualization
I have studied transformational work with Madeleine Marcus PhD, and Brugh Joy MD. I completed the professional training with Jon Kabot-Zinn, of the University of Massachusetts Stress Reduction Clinic. I am also a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy practitioner.
Learn how to develop the inner resources that respond rather than react to stressors. This improves self esteem, reduces physical and psychological symptoms associated with stress, and results in a greater ability to relax.
Discover what it is to be in the moment, breathe, and observe oneself in non-reactivity!
Having completed the professional training from Jon Kabot-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical Center's Stress Reduction Clinic, I offer options for managing stress using these mindfulness techniques.
I teach classes, and work one-on-one, structuring the session to your needs.
I have 7 years experience as a Hospice Volunteer. I have worked as a midwife, bringing babies into the world. Hospice massage is widwife-ing people out of this life.
I offer Peaceful Presence and supportive, comforting massage for the dying.
